Tottenham got their pre-season campaign underway with a 1-0 win over MK Dons in a performance that gave fans plenty of reasons to be optimistic. Mateus Fernandes scored the only goal with a brilliant volley, but several academy players also made a real impression. Luca Williams-Barnett caught the eye with his confidence on the ball, completing 20 of his 22 passes (91%), registering 33 touches, making five passes into the final third, and winning three ground duels during an impressive 45-minute outing. Spurs weren’t at their sharpest in front of goal, which is to be expected in the first game back, but they looked organised, energetic, and showed plenty of encouraging signs ahead of the new season.
