Tottenham Hotspur continued their pre-season preparations with a penalty shootout victory over Sydney FC after the two sides played out a 1-1 draw at Allianz Stadium.

Spurs started brightly and created several opportunities during the opening stages, eventually finding the breakthrough through Mathys Tel. The French forward produced a superb free-kick in the 29th minute, giving Tottenham a deserved lead.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side had chances to extend their advantage before half-time but were unable to find a second goal. Sydney FC responded strongly after the break and levelled through Takahiro Sekine, who took advantage of a defensive mistake to bring the hosts back into the contest.

Tottenham introduced several players during the second half, including Andy Robertson and Sandro Tonali. Robertson provided energy from the left, while Tonali offered composure and quality in midfield.

Spurs continued to push for a winner but Sydney remained competitive, forcing the game into a penalty shootout.

Tottenham held their nerve from the spot, winning 4-2. Martin Dubravka made a crucial save, while Dane Scarlett converted the decisive penalty to secure victory.

The result gives Spurs another pre-season win, although De Zerbi will know there is still work to do before the new season begins.
